Gigi's Hair & Beauty Company History

Gigi's Hair & Beauty was borne from an idea by our 14 year old niece, Delene Chifamba who was visiting from America and had asked why there were no shops in Harlow selling hair products for Afro-Caribbean people.

In August 2002 with a stock of £300 the first sale was made from a market stall on Harlow Market. It soon became obvious that there was demand for an Afro-Caribbean Hair Salon as well as a shop.

By well Ltd t/a Gigi's Hair & Beauty was formed as a Limited Company in October 2002 and moved into 21 Little Walk in January 2003. Two full-time staff ran the salon and shop until Gladys joined the Company full time. The Company and Stock grew. By the middle of June 2004 we needed more space and decided to move to larger premises. Staffing levels increased to five.

In January 2005 Gigi's moved to its current premises at 11 Eastgate. The ground floor has a fully equipped salon and extensive range of hair products and accessories. The first floor contains our large stock of human and synthetic hair whilst we recently opened the second floor which houses our stock of wigs and hair pieces.

We now have 15 staff comprising, 4 Stylists, 2 Junior Stylists, 2 full time Sales Staff, 4 part-time Sales Staff, 2 Saturday Staff and the Manager.

Gigi's Hair & Beauty actively participates in local Work Experience Scheme with Trident.

Gigi's Hair & Beauty staff promotes a happy and friendly environment for customers to enjoy while maintaining quality of service.
